This webpage has been developed to retail GeoGro a natural product that will re-mineralise your soil and improve its fertility and trace-element content. For details about how this product works and how to order, see below.
What is GeoGro?

GeoGro is basalt (volcanic) rock dust which is mined, dried and screened. Basalt rock contains large amounts of minerals and trace elements which are essential to vigorous growth, disease resistance and high yields.
GeoGro benefits your garden by :
- The sustained release of essential minerals
- Better resistance to pests and diseases
- Improved flavour & nutritional value in crops
- Higher crop yields
- Less need for chemicals
- Maintaining neutral soil pH
- Encouraging earthworms & microorganisms
- Improving soil structure and water storage
How does GeoGro work?
Over the last 50 years, due to intensive farming and gardening, our soil has become depleted of many essential minerals and trace elements.
GeoGro gives your soil a helping hand to restore its natural fertility.
Worms and microorganisms digest GeoGro and make it available to plants. Improved fertility is achieved as water-soluble and nutrient-rich worm castings are utilised by plants. Adding GeoGro to your soil mimics the natural process of soil regeneration.
How to use GeoGro
To increase soil fertility:
One 20kg bag covers up to 20m2. Just sprinkle on the surface of your soil and rake in at a rate of 1kg per m2. Alternatively apply to the surface of your soil and then let the worms do the work. GeoGro is best applied every year to maintain a healthy and fertile soil.
To make nutrient-rich compost:
Sprinkle a couple of trowel-fulls onto each layer of compost as it is made. Adding GeoGro to your compost will:
- Encourage microbial activity
- Increase temperature (kills bacteria & weeds)
- Reduce odours
- Boost nitrogen content
- Speed up the composting process
To benefit all of your garden:
GeoGro can be added to pots and grow bags that have soil fauna (worms and microorganisms) present. GeoGro is good for all garden plants, trees, shrubs, lawns etc. (1kg per m2.)
Environment:
GeoGro is a naturally occurring volcanic rock dust which has the following environmental benefits:
- Disease resistance is enhanced due to higher nutrient intake, reducing the need for herbicides and pesticides. This reduces dependence on oil, maintains a healthy ecosystem and preserves local biodiversity.
- GeoGro prevents erosion of top soil by building up humus content. Healthy populations of soil fauna (earthworms, etc.) mean better breakdown of organic matter which leads to a healthier and more stable soil.
Bigger, healthier plants mean more uptake of Co2, which is a major global warming gas
Safety:
GeoGro is completely natural and safe for:
- People
- Pets
- Wildlife
- Fish
GeoGro is non-caustic and will not burn young plants or emerging seedlings. GeoGro can be handled with bare hands, but in windy conditions, eye and mouth protection may be required.
GeoGro is not water-soluble so its quality is not affected by moisture build-up. However, for ease of application GeoGro keeps best when stored in cool, dry conditions.
Independent testing:
GeoGro has been independantly tested at the Geophysics department at the University of East Anglia and found to contain the following macro and micro nutrients.
Macronutrients: %
Micronutrients: In parts per million
